Error codes for Fisher & Paykel Washing Machine

Please do take care to read the information thoroughly as it is there to help you understand fault codes and to keep you safe. There are also some help, tips and hints with a lot of the fault codes published here that you usually will not find anywhere else and, as we learn, we add more information so if you can't find what you need please ask in the forums.

Before using this section please understand that fault or error codes are used as a diagnostic aid, they are not a replacement for diagnostic skill on the part of the person repairing the product and are not in any way usually going to point to the precise component that is faulty. All they do is give you an idea of where to start looking for the fault.

no tap

Water is notgetting to the machine.

Issue:
Water is not getting to the machine.
Advice:
Check the taps have been turned on. If there is no hot water connection the machine will heat the water itself, but there must be a cold waterconnection to the cold valve. Check the hose connections. If the cold watersupply is connected to the hot valve and there is no connection to the cold valve the machine will not fill. Check the inlet hose filters are not blocked, the hosesare not kinked and are attached correctly. Check that the drain hose is not too low or pushedinto the standpipe too far. This will cause the water tosiphon out of the machine. Check the cold water temperature does not exceedthe 35°C temperature requirement. Check the water flow rate. It maybe too low.

out of bal

Wash loadis out of balance.

Issue:
Wash loadis out of balance.
Advice:
Touch >|| to try the spin again. If the out of balance persists, pause the cycle, manually redistribute the load and touch >|| again. If necessary, stop the cycle, select 'Spin' and touch >||

Sud LOC

Too many suds.

Issue:
Too many suds.
Advice:
Machine will stop and flash "Sud LOC" for 10 minutes while waiting for suds to dissipate. The machinewill not beep during this time. After 10 minutes themachine will automatically restart. At any point duringthat 10 minutes you can touch >|| to restart the machine, but it is recommended that the machine beleft to restart automatically. Check you are using a suitable detergent. Check you are not overdosing the detergent. Check the standpipe height for the drain does not exceed 1200 mm.

door Lock

Door is locked.

Issue:
Door is locked.
Advice:
The temperature in the drum is over 60°C thereforeit is not safe to open the door. Wait until thetemperature drops below 60°C.Check the water level in the drum. If the level is abovethe bottom of the door seal, the door cannot beopened. Use the 'Add a Garment' button if you wishto add or remove items (WH8560F, WH8060FWH8560P, WH8060P and WH7560P models only). If the drum is still moving, wait for it to stop beforeattempting to open the door.

Door is open.

Issue:
Door is open.
Advice:
Close the door fully and touch >|| Try opening and closing the door again.Reposition the load, make sure the load is correctly in the drum and that protruding items are not stopping the door from closing.

Err 1

Motor control module fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 1: Motor control module
Advice:
Replace motor control module.

Err 3

Motor control module fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 3: Motor control module.
Advice:
Replace motor control module.

Err 9

Size setting fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 10: Thermistor
Advice:
Replace Thermistor.

Err 11

Pressure Sensor Fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 11: Pressure Tube.
Advice:
Empty all water from the machine. Remove pressure tube from pressure sensor, clear pressure tube of any water and reconnect tube (blow down the tube is necessary). 2 - If fault repeats, replace Motor Control Module.

Err 12

Flood Protection Error

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 12: Water Valves. / Pump System. / motor control module.
Advice:
If the water valves are on continuously, check that the water valves turn off mechanically by disconnecting power to the machine. / Check pump for blockage and drain hose for correct height(end not immersed in water) or kinked. / If water valves are been driven on electrically, replace motor control module.

Err 36

Water Leak Fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 36: Motor control module has needed to top up the water level more than 4 times during wash/rinse cycle. Most likely cause is waster siphoning out or the machine has developed a leak./ Drainage system. / Pressure tube.
Advice:
Check that the hose is not less than 850mm from the ground. / Make sure the pressure tube is fitted correctly and doesnt have any holes.

Err 37

Blocked pump

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 37: Drain System
Advice:
1. Check that the drain hose has not been kinked. 2. Check the length of the hose. 1m is maximum extension. 3. Check drain pump winding for open circuit.(Note: Pumps are fitted with a thermal cut out and will reset after cooling) 4. Check for physical blockage to pump and hoses.

Err 38

Pressure Sensor Fault (empty reading during wash cycle)

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 38: Pressure tube. / Motor Control Module
Advice:
Check if tube is fitted correctly, check for blockages or holes in the pressure tube. / Replace the module.

Err 39

Pressure Tube Fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 39: Same as fault 38.
Advice:

Err 40

Bowl Dis-engage Fault

Issue:
Fisher and Paykel washing machine error 40: Mechanical. / Motor Control Board.
Advice:
1. Check that there are no clothes or other foreign objects preventing the clutch from re-engaging. Excessive suds can also stop the bowl rotating. 2. Check the clutch splines for physical damage. 3. Check that the pressure tube has not come off, kinked or blocked(blow down the tube. / Change Board.
