Miele washing machine 'Cannot be changed' message

Turned off power for 2 hrs and selected original setting for wash (I had forgotten) and it worked.

It means you’ve stopped the previous wash too early.
Set your program to the one that was on the previous wash so washing machine can finish that program first.
I am afraid but you should not stop these particular washing machine even if it has got left only 5min to dry the clothes.

I have the same problem. Reactivating last program did not solve it. It still resists to change to any other program. It would be helpful if others would share how they managed to trick their machines.

Open the door and close it. That will solve it.

Thanks for the solution , I used a lot of time trying to find an answer - yes please let it allow the programme which was probably interrupted and let it finish it.

I'm experiencing the same issue for the first time. I have tried to change the cycle just several seconds after starting one that I selected by mistake.

The implications of some suggestions is that one should let the cycle you don't want finish before you select another. So if I accidentally selected a 90 degree wash for delicate items I just need to destroy them before I can use the machine again.

For such an expensive piece of technology that is a serious UX fail. This is before we start getting in to how awful the UI is on the remote control app.

We have a Miele W1 washing machine. The display had 'cannot be changed' no matter which programme we selected. We did not know which was the last programme used. Looking on line there are many solutions that do not solve the problem.
I came across a video on YouTube showing how to cancel a programme.

We worked out the solution based on this video.

1. Turn the control knob to off (12 o'clock)
2. Turn off the power to the machine
3. Open the door
4. Turn on the power to the machine and wait a few seconds
5. Close the door
6. Turn the control knob to QuickPowerWash - the display advises 'cannot be changed'
7. Press start - the door locks, but nothing else happens
8. Turn the control knob to off (12 o'clock) and wait a few seconds
9. Turn the control knob to Cottons (as in the YouTube video) - the machine asks if you want to cancel the programme - select Yes - the programme is cancelled and the machine unlocks the door

Our machine then worked as it should and did not display 'cannot be changed'

My MEILE washing machine won’t come off the can’t change programme setting I have unplugged at wall plugged in and I can’t open the door please advise .
