If your washing machine malfunctions, you may see an information code on the display.

Please see below for possible solutions for each information code. If you have tried all of these and are still experiencing problems, you may need to contact us to arrange an engineer visit.

CODE: 1E, E7, 1C (Water level sensor)
Action: Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 3E, 3E1, 3E2, 3E3, 3E4, bE, 3C (Motor)
Action: Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 4E/E1/4C (Water supply)
Action:
1. Make sure the water taps are open and properly connected
2. Make sure the water hoses are not clogged.
3. Make sure the water taps are not frozen.
4. Make sure the washing machine is operating with sufficient
water pressure. (min:0.5bar, max: 8bar)
5. Check Inlet filters inside end of Water Valve.
6. Clean the mesh filter as it may be clogged.

If the information code remains and you are unable to fix the problem, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 4E1, 4E2, 4Ed, H1, HE, 4C2, HC,CE, E8 (Water temperature)
Action: Check that your water hose is connected to a cold supply and not a hot supply. Cold water is usually indicated by a blue tap. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 5E, E2, 5C (Drainage)
Action:

1. Check and clean the drainage pump filter and remove any blockages.
2. Check drain hose and waste connection for kinks and
blockages.
3. Make sure the drain hose is not frozen or clogged.
4. Make sure the drain hose is positioned correctly, depending
on the connection type.
5. Make sure the drain hose is straightened all the way to the
drain system.

If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 8E (Current)
Action: Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 8C (MEMS sensor)
Action: Turn the machine off, and restart the cycle. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: 9E1, PH1, 9E2, Plo, AE (Power/not switching on)
Action: Please switch off the appliance at the mains, and then wait 30 seconds before switching it back on again.

If this does not solve the problem, are you using an extension lead or multiple plug?
Plug another item, such as a mobile phone charger, into the power point that your washing machine is connected to, to check if the problem is the power point or machine. We recommend connecting your machine directly to a power point rather than using an extension lead. If your machine still has no power, you may need to replace the fuse in your washing machine plug. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: AC6, AE, 13E, AC (Signal Communication)
Action: Depending on the state, the machine may automatically return to normal operation.
Turn the machine off, and restart the cycle. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: bE1, 12E, bE2, 14E, bE3, 18E (Buttons)
Action: Check whether any of the buttons are sticking. Disconnect the appliance from mains and clean the buttons with a lightly dampened cloth. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: DDC, ddC (Add Door)
Action: This message appears when you open the Add Door without pressing Start/Pause.

If this happens, do one of the following:
1. Press the Add Door to close.
2. Press Start/Pause
and try again.
To add laundry, open the Add Door and add laundry.
1. Close the Add Door properly.
2. Press Start/Pause to resume
operation.

If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: dE, dE1, Ed, dC, DC1, DC (Door)
Action: Check that the door is closed fully, and that nothing is trapped in the door.

This code may appear if the machine is overloaded. Check your manual for optimum loading, or click here to see a visual representation of what different size loads look like in a Samsung washing machine.

If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: dE2 (On/Off switch)
Action: Please disconnect appliance from mains, wait 5 minutes and then try again. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: FE (Fan)
Action: Please contact the Samsung Customer Service Centre

CODE: HE1, E5, 6E (Heater)
Action: Please contact the Samsung Customer Service Centre

CODE HE2, HE2 (Dryer heater)
Action: The dryer section has shut down for safety reasons because the temperature sensors have detected the temperature of the dryer has gone too high, and is usually related to a reduction in airflow.

There needs to be enough room in your washing machine for the water and detergent to move around and fully penetrate the clothing. The door should be able to be closed freely and a hand's width of space should be above the garments in the drum.

Some clothes are not appropriate to be dried in the drier as high heat can also lead to excess fluff/lint deposition that clogs up the dry system and restricts airflow. Always check the fabric label on your clothing before using the machine.

This reduction in airflow must be investigated by an engineer and can only be reset by the engineer once considered safe to do so. Please contact the Samsung Customer Service Centre

CODE: HE3 (Steam function)
Action: Unfortunately, this means that the steam function is not operating normally and an engineer will need to visit and investigate. Please contact the Samsung Customer Service Centre

CODE: HOT (Appliance too hot)
Action: This means that the appliance is too hot, however this is not a fault.

The appliance fan will continue to run until the appliance has cooled down enough for the washing to be removed (55°C) to prevent heater faults.

Once it has cooled down, the door will unlock.

CODE: LE, LE1, E9, 11E, LC, LC1 (Low water level detected)
Action: Please check that the level of the drain hose is not lower than the base of the washing machine.
Make sure the end of the drain hose is placed on the floor, and that it is not clogged.
You should also check for a water leak. If there is no sign of any water, please switch off the power and reconnect.
If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: OE, OF, E3, OC (Overflow)
Action: Too much washing powder/liquid may have been added. Switch off the power to the appliance, wait 30 seconds then switch the power supply back on. The drain pump should operate to drain the washing machine.
If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: t1, t2, tSt (Test mode)
Action: Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: Sud (Too much foam is detected)
Action: The appliance will usually cure this fault on its own, however if it does not you will need to run either an "Eco drum clean" cycle (some models) or a 90°C
cotton cycle with no detergent or washing load.
If it persists, check the filters and hoses for blockages, then run a spin cycle to drain the remaining water in the appliance.
You can view a video here showing you how to deal with drainage and blockage problems.
If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: tE, EC, tE1, tE2, tE3 (temperature sensor)
Action: Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme. If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: UC (Fluctuation in supply voltage)
Action: Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme
If it is still showing, check if power is supplied properly and that the power cord is plugged in.
If the information code remains, contact the Samsung Service Centre.

CODE: UE, E4, Ub (The load in the drum is unbalanced)
Action: This is not a fault. The appliance has detected an unbalanced load and has stopped the spin for safety reasons.

Redistribute washing by adding or removing items to ensure a more balanced load. Single large/heavy items such as bath mats or large towels are unlikely to spin on their own so please add 2/3 additional towels and put on another spin cycle.

Make sure the washing machine is on a flat, stable surface.
