While essentially not a complex appliance, it does nevertheless involve some important features, and as with all household and electrical appliances, things can go wrong! <\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many fridge freezer faults are actually very simple to\nrectify, and can be done by yourself. Others may necessitate replacement parts\nthat need to be fitted by someone who is qualified. Following is our list of\ncommon fridge freezer problems, which we hope will help you get a longer life\nfrom your fridge freezer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The\nCommon Problems<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fridge or\nFreezer not Cooling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a problem that is immediately obvious, and one of\nthe most common of all faults reported on fridge freezers. In some cases one of\nthe elements \u2013 the fridge or the freezer \u2013 works while the other doesn\u2019t; in\nother instances, both parts stop working. There are various reasons why this\ncan be, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Electrical failure:<\/strong> if the fridge is not operating, and the lights are not coming on, then you may have a blown fuse or a problem with the electrical system. Make sure your home mains system is working.<\/li><li><strong>Compressor failure:<\/strong> one of the most common problems with fridge freezers that are a few years old is that the compressor stops working. This is generally due to old age as the item has reached its natural lifespan. In some models, the thermostat is relatively easy to replace, but in others, you might need the expertise of a professional.<\/li><li><strong>Door Seal fault:<\/strong> the seals on a fridge freezer door are in place to prevent air from getting into the appliance. Should air be seeping in \u2013 perhaps from a damaged or worn seal \u2013 then you need the seals replaced, as this will cause temperature fluctuations. The seals may be easy to replace if you are competent at DIY, but to be on the safe side, it might be worth contacting an expert.<\/li><li><strong>Gas System Blockage:<\/strong> this can be caused by a build-up of ice that blocks the free movement of the gas.
